I have taught scriptwriting/creative writing at various universities: Manchester Metropolitan, Edge Hill and Liverpool John Moores universities. It was at John Moores University in 1999 that I gained a distinction at Masters level (Imaginative Writing) and where I won the Lynda La Plante Award for best original screenplay.
For some years I have been visiting lecturer and professional advisor and mentor at University of Salford (undergraduate and MA students). I am also a mentor for The Literary Consultancy and NAWE.
I am currently writing for a new piece for the stage.

What I offer:
I work only with people whose work excites and interests me. That could include writers of scripts for TV, film, radio or stage, or short story writers, or even novelists. I do love a good story well told.
Increasingly I have found that there is a demand for one-to-one tuition/mentoring. I maintain a select base of private clients I am working with on various projects: novels and novellas; short story collections; screenplays for both big and small screen; plays for the theatre and radio.
My support, guidance, encouragement, advice and constructive critique is provided in the form of written reports, with email/phone follow-up. Depending on an individual client’s requirements, I can offer tutoring, mentoring or appraisal: if the need is there, I can even design a course (for example scriptwriting) to suit the individual’s current level of skills and experience.
I usually ask to see a short example of writing before agreeing, with the client, what service will best suit them , then agree a price and course of action.
If it turns out that I can’t help – if my lists are full or if someone’s work is outside my area - I can usually recommend another writer who may be able to help.
What I don’t offer:
I can’t get you published. I can’t get your work to a producer. I can’t get you an agent, (although if I am seriously bowled over by a writer/ script I do have my agent’s blessing to pass work along to her for reading - though, again, without any promises!)
