The Writers' Ark is an on-line community of professional, published writers with many years of experience of distance learning and an enviable reputation in guiding and supporting new and developing writers of all forms (fiction, non-fiction, children's writing, poetry and drama) and genres. The Writers' Ark offers tutoring, mentoring, appraisal and editing services, workshop events and course design and delivery. We also offer students applying to MA courses in creative writing help in preparing their portfolios. The Writers' Ark is the brainchild of Jane McNulty, a freelance television scriptwriter with screen credits for episodes of long-running dramas such as EastEnders, Doctors, Heartbeat, Peak Practice and Crossroads. She has also won prizes for her writing - short stories, poetry and drama. (click on Jane's CV/screen credits). Jane is currently the Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Edge Hill University, Lancashire Since 1995, Jane has tutored and mentored over two hundred new and developing writers of TV, radio and theatre drama, as well as short and long fiction and poetry. Although she concentrates on distance learning tutorials, she also runs workshops and residential courses for adults and children. (click on Jane's tutoring services) As a busy working screenwriter, Jane will take on only students/new writers whose work interests and excites her, mainly (though not exclusively) those wishing to write for television. She recognises, however, that developing writers need support and guidance from those with skills and experience relevant areas. With this in mind, she set up The Writers' Ark to ensure that students/new writers find the right tutor/mentor for them: she is committed to helping developing writers find their 'voice' through constructive and honest feedback from experienced, published writers. |
